The Watchful Eye - First episode
Working as a live-in nanny for a young boy and his handsome and wealthy father. Sounds fun, right? Elena thought so too, although we soon learn that nothing and no one is what it seems, including Elena.
The show opens with the suicide of Alice (Emily Tennant, Polly Pocket). Six months later, Elena Santos (Mariel Molino, Promised Land) has a job interview with Matthew Ward (Warren Christie, Alphas), who is looking for a babysitter for his son Jasper (Henry Joseph Samiri, The Bold and the Beautiful) after the death of his wife Alice. Matthew and Jasper live in the Greybourne building where the new nanny will also reside. The two are joined by Alice's meddlesome sister, Tory (Amy Acker, Person of Interest). It soon becomes clear that Tory is absolutely against Elena becoming her nephew's new babysitter, but Elena gets the job anyway.
We quickly discover that it’s no coincidence Elena chose this job. She and her boyfriend Scott (Jon Ecker, Queen of the South) plan to steal a ruby, which apparently lies somewhere in the Greybourne building. Both are determined to make this plan work, with Elena not shying away from lying and deceiving.
When Elena starts her new job the next day, she gets a room on a creepy, dark floor. A big contrast to the luxury apartments where the rest of the residents live. But that luxurious exterior is not what it seems. Everything about the Greybourne building is creepy. The building is making strange noises, there are rumors of something supernatural in the basement and Elena meets another nanny who is unknown to anyone else. On top of that, all residents behave extremely shady and it is hinted that Alice's death may not have been a suicide. Also, apparently many deadly "accidents" have taken place in the building. That becomes clear when the first episode ends with another death.

The suspicious behavior of all characters is a bit over the top for my taste, but it still makes me curious about their relationships and what exactly is going on in the Greybourne building. The first episode reminded me of shows like Revenge and Pretty Little Liars. Fans of these shows will certainly appreciate The Watchful Eye.
The Watchful Eye consists of ten episodes and can be seen on Freeform and Hulu.

"Be careful not to get square eyes," Sharon has been told since childhood. Watching television shows for hours on end is nothing new to her. Sharon can completely lose herself in good storylines, she cries along with her favorite characters and dreams completely new episodes at night. Also, she knows all the latest news about actors, castings, cancellations / renewals and gossip ? After studying Journalism, Sharon chose the financially stable corporate job, but after craving some more creativity, she handed in her notice. 2023 has started for her without a job, but with a lot of dreams and time to figure out her next step. Oh and she is also writing a tvshow. You can watch this on one of the major streaming services next year (she hopes).
