‘The Comeback’ returns

HBO hasn’t officialy confirmed anything yet, but several sources have confirmed to E!News that ‘The Comeback’ will return. Production of the miniseries is set to start on May 19.

E! reports that several sources have acknowledged that writers have been working on new scripts for two weeks. The series is set nine years after the original, and it will feature Malin Ackerman (‘Trophy Wife’), Kellan Lutz (‘Twilight’) and Lisa Kudrow (‘Friends’) in their original parts. Ackerman and Lutz probably won’t be available for all episodes and will only appear occasionally.

The Comeback’ was a thirteen-part series from 2005 about forgotten reality star Valerie Cherish (Kudrow) and was aired on HBO. As with most comebacks, ‘The Comeback’ received bad ratings when it was originally aired, but it gained a cult following in the following years. Michael Patrick King (‘Sex and the City’), Dan Bucantisky (‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Scandal’) and Amy B. Harris (‘Sex and the City’, ‘The Carrie Diaries’) have all returned to write the new scripts.

The six episodes will stand on their own, but if proven successful, more episodes will follow.
