CBS pulls The McCarthys from broadcast schedule

Fans of the sitcom ‘The McCarthys’ will no longer be able to find their series on the schedule of CBS. The series has not yet been officially cancelled but the remaining episodes will not be broadcast.

The McCarthys’ revolves around a sports-crazed family from Boston. Athletically-challenged and gay son Ronny (Tyler Ritter) plans to finally move away to start his own life. Those plans are thrown into turmoil when his basketball coach dad (Jack McGee) offers him a job as assistant coach — much to the dismay of Ronny’s siblings. The sitcom also stars Laurie Metcalf, Jimmy Dunn, Joey McIntyre, and Kelen Coleman.

The sitcom premiered in October 2014 and despite moderate ratings CBS kept the series on the air. In December 2014, CBS ordered two more episodes of ‘The McCarthys’. But whether they will ever be broadcast remains to be seen. ‘The McCarthys’ is the lowest-rated scripted series at this time for CBS.

Meanwhile CBS has broadcast 11 of the 15 episodes. On 5 and 12 February episode 12 and 13 should be broadcast, but now reruns of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will be broadcast instead. CBS has not yet announced when the last four episodes will be broadcast. And given the poor ratings it’s unlikely that the series is going to be renewed.

What do you think, is it right that ‘The McCarthys’ has been pulled from the schedule? Do you expect a renewal or do you think that the series is going to be cancelled?
