Tracker adds Jensen Ackles to cast

Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw has found his brother.

Hartley announced in a video on Instagram on Thursday that Jensen Ackles has been cast as Colter's estranged brother Russell in the CBS drama series Tracker.



The network revealed on Friday that Ackles' (pictured) character will be introduced in the penultimate episode of the season, titled Off The Books, on Sunday, May 12. CBS also released a first photo of the two brothers. You can find this at the bottom of this news item.

CBS' synopsis: "Colter is forced to team up with his estranged brother Russell, who enlists his help to track down a former army buddy who goes missing after several weeks of paranoid behavior. The investigation brings the brothers into the world of Special Forces missions, dark off-the-books programs and conspiracy theories, as they grapple with their family's past."

The series, which had strong ratings, received an early renewal for season two just weeks after the first season's premiere.

Tracker, based on Jeffery Deaver's bestseller The Never Game, stars Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to target private citizens and law enforcement. helping solve all kinds of mysteries while struggling with his own broken family.

The series also stars Fiona Rene, Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany and Eric Graise.

Tracker is produced by 20th Television. Hartley, Ken Olin, Elwood Reid and Ben Winters are the executive producers.

Ackles is best known for his long-running role as Dean Winchester on The CW's Supernatural, a role he reprized in the prequel series The Winchesters. His other recent credits include playing Sheriff Beau Arlen on Big Sky, Soldier Boy on The Boys and a guest role on Gen V.
