Maris Bächle (Jessica Schwarz) and her colleague Konrad Diener (Max von Thun) from the Freudenstadt police investigate various murder cases in the supposed idyllic Black Forest, where, as is often the case, good and evil, beauty and terror are close together. Bächle was found in a cave as a child and is sometimes called “the Hauser” in reference to Kaspar Hauser. She grew up in the Black Forest. Diener, in turn, moved to the small town from Hamburg with his family.
