Musical comedy series Up Here canceled by Hulu after one season

Hulu says goodbye to Steven Levenson's musical romantic comedy series Up Here after one season.
Starring Mae Whitman (Good Girls, Parenthood) as Lindsay and Carlos Valdes (Gaslit, The Flash (2014)) as Miguel, Up Here told a fresh and fun story of two people falling in love. The series was first ordered by the streamer in January 2022 and made a disappointing debut in March.

Up Here

Set in the late 1990s, the eight-episode musical series from Levenson, Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, Thomas Kail, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez centers on Lindsay and Miguel, an ordinary couple who pulls together.

We follow Lindsay, who flees her life in the suburbs to pursue her dream: to become a writer in the big city. At a wedding, she unexpectedly meets Miguel, a sensitive investment banker. But as fate would have it, they soon realize that they themselves are perhaps the biggest obstacle to finding happiness together. The series takes viewers on a joyful, sensitive ride as the two navigate love, loss, and life together.

Up Here also had Katie Finneran (The Gilded Age, Bloodline), John Hodgman (The Tick, Married), Andréa Burns (Jessica Jones, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Sophia Hammons, Rehanshi Mirza and Emilia Suárez in the leading roles.

20th Television and Kail's Old 320 Sycamore Productions co-produced the series.
