Upload renewed with fourth and final season by Prime Video

Prime Video returns to Lakeview one more time. The Amazon streamer has recorded a fourth season of Upload.

The fourth season will be the final chapter of the science fiction comedy series created and produced by Greg Daniels. The renewal of the Amazon MGM Studios-produced series, starring Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, comes three months after the season three finale was released on November 10.



Upload is a sci-fi comedy that feels less sci-fi with each season as rapidly advancing real-world technology begins to catch up with us in areas like self-driving cars and AI assistants.

The series, which combines science fiction with romantic comedy, is set in a technologically advanced future where holographic phones, self-driving cars, AI assistance and 3D food printers are the norm. And instead of dying, people can be uploaded to a virtual reality afterlife, where they enjoy all the comforts of a world-class resort in a prime location like Lakeview - provided they can afford it.

In their statements, both Amazon MGM Studios head of TV Vernon Sanders and Daniels referenced the series' mythology.

“I’m thrilled to share that Upload will return to Prime Video for a fourth and final installment,” Sanders said. “We are grateful to Greg and the fantastic team behind the series and while goodbyes are bittersweet, we know that the series will be uploaded to its well-deserved idealistic afterlife.”

Daniels, who also serves as showrunner and director of the series, promised fans a satisfying denouement as he used Upload's digital heaven nickname and rating system to recognize Amazon MGM Studios' head Jen Salke and Sanders.

“When I conceived Upload many years ago, I had the story arced out over four seasons, so I am thrilled to make the ending the fans deserve and the characters and creative team have been working towards,” Daniels said. “Jen Salke and Vernon Sanders have been our Angels and they deserve 5 stars.”

Daniels produces Upload with Howard Klein and Jeff Blitz.

The series stars Amell as Nathan, Allo as Nora, Kevin Bigley as Luke, Allegra Edwards as Ingrid, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha and Daniels' son and Upload writer Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy.
