We Were the Lucky Ones is "inspired by the incredible true story of a Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite," according to the official synopsis. "The series shows how, despite the darkest moment of the twentieth century, the human spirit can endure and even thrive. The series is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds."
Joey King (The Act) and Logan Lerman (Hunters (2020)), co-star Hadas Yaron (Shtisel), Henry-Lloyd Hughes (The English Game), Amit Rahav (Unorthodox), Sam Woolf (The Crown), Michael Aloni (Shtisel), Moran Rosenblatt (Hit and Run), Eva Feiler (Beyond Paradise), Lior Ashkenazi (Sh'at Neila/Valley of Tears) and Robin Weigert Deadwood) star.
The series is written and produced by Erica Lipez (Julia, The Morning Show), who also serves as showrunner. Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon) directs and produces alongside Jennifer Todd, who executive produces for Old 320 Sycamore. Adam Milch is executive producer and Hunter is co-executive producer.
The Hulu Originals series is a production of 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios.
We Were the Lucky Ones premieres on Hulu on Thursday, March 28 with three episodes and new episodes weekly.
