Westworld actress cast in second season of Wednesday

After Steve Buscemi, Wednesday has added another big name to its cast for its second season.

Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton (pictured below) is the latest addition to season two of Wednesday. Character descriptions and details for the second season are still being kept under wraps.

Netflix declined comment.

The Addams Family spin-off is a sleuth-like, supernatural mystery that charts Wednesday Addams (Ortega) as a student at Nevermore Academy. There, she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, foil a monstrous murder spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that troubled her parents 25 years ago.

The first season cast, starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, also included Catherine Zeta-Jones as mother Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as father Gomez Addams, along with Thora Birch, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emma Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday and Percy Hynes White.

The coming-of-age comedy series is from Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and is directed/executive produced by Tim Burton. Other executive producers include Steve Stark for Toluca Pictures, Andrew Mittman for 1.21 Entertainment, Kevin Miserocchi for Tee and Charles Addams Foundation, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper and Kevin Lafferty.

Newton received three Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress and won in 2018 for her role as Maeve Millay in HBO's Westworld. Her other series roles include BBC's Line of Duty and the NBC miniseries The Slap (US). She also lends her voice to Netflix's animated series Big Mouth and the spin-off Human Resources.
