Wednesday season two has started filming and adds twelve new actors

Netflix has revealed the main cast and guest stars for the upcoming second season of Wednesday.

Jenna Ortega stars in the series, which has entered production in Ireland for a 2025 return. Wednesday's new regular cast members include Billie Piper, the previously revealed Steve Buscemi, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor.

A teaser, featuring Thing delivering scripts to the cast, reveals the characters for Piper, who will play Capri, and Buscemi, who will play Barry Dort.

In addition, four recurring/guest actors from the first season are promoted to series regulars: Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Wednesday's mother Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Wednesday's father Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday's younger brother Pugsley Addams, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Deputy Ritchie Santiago.

Wednesday creators/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar had previously hinted that we could see more of the Addams family members in season two and further explore Wednesday's relationship with her mother and the rest of her family to research. Expanding the presence of Jones, Guzmán and Ordonez next season would fit into that plan - along with delighting fans who have been asking to see more of these characters.

Season two will introduce at least one new Addams family member, Grandmama, who will be played by Joanna Lumley in a guest role, while Fred Armisen will reprise his guest role as Uncle Fester.

Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in the Addams Family film series, will also guest star in the second season in an undisclosed role, the second cast member from the films to appear in the series following Christina Ricci's role in the previous season.

Other new guest stars for season two include Thandiwe Newton, who plays Dr. Fairburn stars, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo.

Returning regulars include Ortega as Wednesday, Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.

Meanwhile, other regulars from the first season, Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa, will not return in that capacity next season.

Of the three, only McShane will reprise his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin as a guest actor, likely to wrap up his character's story. Galpin's duties could be taken over by his deputy Santiago, with Lewis-Nyawo now promoted to a permanent role.

White played psychic Nevermore student Xavier Thorpe, one of the two male leads in the first season and a romantic interest for Wednesday (Ortega), who saved his life in the season finale.

Rumors swirled last fall that his character would be written out of the series. White released a statement last June hitting back at since-deleted anonymous social media posts from January 2023 accusing him of sexual abuse. In his message to fans, White vehemently denied all allegations.

As for Ogawa, her character Yoko Tanaka, a vampire student, was largely in the background in the first season, with less and less screen time as the season progressed and no major storylines.

The teaser, which you can watch below, also reveals that the first episode of season two is called 'Here We Woe Again'. The episode was written by Millar and Gough and is directed by director/executive producer Tim Burton.

“We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces,” Millar and Gough said in a statement.

The season two cast photo above was taken in the room Wednesday shared with Enid. There's no official logline for next season, but at least some of the action is expected to take place at Nevermore Academy again, as the series charts Wednesday Addams' years as a student.

It is unclear whether Wednesday's parents are also involved. There is a vacancy at the helm of the Academy after headmistress (and Morticia's former roommate) Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) is murdered.

The first season of Wednesday is the most popular English television series on Netflix with 252.10 million views. The pitch-black comedy series spent 20 weeks in the global top 10 and reached the top 10 in 93 countries.

Burton, Gough and Millar produce along with Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman and Meredith Averill. Other season two directors include Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. MGM Television is the studio.

As the series begins in its new location after filming the first season in Romania, Netflix is launching a TikTok channel dedicated to all things Wednesday from Thing's perspective.
