Westworld - Season 4
The fourth season of Westworld once again hits all the right spots. Since 2016 we were able to enjoy Westworld every two years. A fantastic science fiction series that depicts the battle between humanity and the 'hosts' - a kind of robots. Although I enjoyed the second and third seasons, they were of significantly lower quality than the debut season. Season four, on the other hand, manages to match the first chapter.
The fourth season picks up seven years after the events of season three and is immediately packed with new mysteries. I can't reveal too much about the plot as the whole season is full of plot twists. These twists make the season very strong. I was completely blown away by the fourth episode in particular. What a twist that was!
Where the story of season three was sometimes a bit disjointed, that is not the case at all in season four. Every tiny detail has been thought out and all puzzle pieces fall completely into place. This is fantastic to see and discover.
The acting in Westworld remains masterful. Where in previous seasons Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood) and Thandie Newton (Line of Duty) stole the show for me, this time it is Tessa Thompson (Dear White People). This season, her character got a very good storyline that Thompson managed to pull off flawlessly. The other cast members also did a good job. It's always a pleasure to see Ed Harris (Empire Falls), Jeffrey Wright (Marvel's What If...?), and Angela Sarafyan (American Horror Story) on my screen.
Westworld's strength still lies in its complexity. You really need to turn on your brain when watching this series. It has been that way since the beginning and it still is. I love having to really think about what is being said and what is happening on the screen. The fact that all this is accompanied by beautiful sets, fantastic direction, and masterful acting is of course also very nice.
A beautiful 9.0 to Westworld season four!

The last episode of the fourth season clearly announces the conclusion. From the start, it has been hinted at a story that would span five seasons. Seeing as HBO has decided to cancel the series, I hope we still get to experience this fifth season, somehow. It would be an eternal shame if it didn't happen, so let's all keep our fingers crossed that we get some good news from the creators at some point. Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world, the disarray. I choose to see the beauty.
A beautiful 9.0 to Westworld season four!
