What We Do in the Shadows kicked off its farewell tour yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con with a panel discussion featuring lead actors Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch and Kristen Schaal, along with executive producer/writer Paul Simms and executive producer/director Kyle Newacheck. The panel, which lasts from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Hall H, will include a preview of a new episode of the upcoming season.
What We Do in the Shadows documents the nighttime exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Novak), Laszlo (Berry), Nadja (Demetriou), and Colin Robinson (Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their former confidant and current human friend, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) and their vampire bureaucrat The Guide (Schaal).
After a short time as a real vampire, Guillermo reconsiders his life. Who is he if not someone who will do anything to please his master in the hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are also reevaluating. When their former roommate reappears after a fifty-year nap, they realize how little they've done in half a century - not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except their street and some from Ashley Street).
The first three episodes of the 11-part sixth season air Monday, October 21 at 10pm on FX and stream on Hulu the following day.
Internationally, previous seasons of the series are available to stream on Disney+, with season six coming soon. All five previous seasons are available for streaming on Hulu.
In the upcoming final season, Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, Colin and Guillermo go to work, visit New Hampshire, go to a human dinner party, party with The Baron and conjure up a demon - all while trying to find their place and purpose in this crazy, confused world.
Last week, What We Do in the Shadows received eight Primetime Emmy nominations for its fifth season, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Berry), Outstanding Script for a Comedy Series and nominations for costumes, production, editing, sound and stunts.
Paul Simms, Jemaine Clement, Sam Johnson, Sarah Naftalis, Yana Gorskaya, Kyle Newacheck, Taika Waititi, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush serve as executive producers. What We Do in the Shadows is produced by FX Productions.
