Gina Rodriguez will play a regular role in the third season of Will Trent

ABC's Will Trent gets a new assistant district attorney in season three, played by Gina Rodriguez. Based on the bestseller Will Trent by Karin Slaughter (New York Times), the series follows the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent (Ramón Rodriguez) of the title, who was abandoned at birth and endured a difficult childhood in Atlanta's overcrowded foster care system. Now Will uses his unique perspective in the pursuit of justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.



Rodriguez (pictured) will play Marion Alba, a charismatic, confident assistant district attorney new to Atlanta. After her first meeting with Will goes nowhere, the duo is surprised to learn they must work together to investigate a crime in the world of Atlanta's gangs.

Will and Angie (Erika Christensen) were pretty much circling each other in season two, could Marion come along and shake things up romantically? Mind you, this is pure speculation, but wouldn't a love triangle storyline be juicy? Perhaps it could be a catalyst to bring Will and Angie closer together or end their love bond for good.

The series also stars Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

Rodriguez is expanding her relationship with ABC/Disney after co-hosting the game show Lucky 13 with Shaquille O'Neal, which currently airs on the network. Previously, she was the lead actress and executive producer of ABC's Not Dead Yet and Disney+'s Diary of a Future President. She is best known for her role as Jane Gloriana on The CW's Jane the Virgin.

Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howard Deutch, Ellen Marie Blum and Ramón Rodriguez produce Will Trent. Heldens and Thomsen are also co-showrunners for the series, which is produced by 20th Television.
