Start date second season of World on Fire on BBC and PBS

World on Fire has finally been given a return date. The first season of the World War II drama began airing on PBS in 2020.

The series was renewed for a second season after it aired in the United Kingdom, but production of season two was postponed due to the pandemic. Production on the historical drama finally began in July 2022.

Written by Patrick Bowker, the series depicts World War II through the eyes of people living in different countries.

World on Fire

Lesley Manville, Jonah Hauer-King, Julia Brown, Zofia Wichlacz, Blake Harrison, Eugénie Derouand, Eryk Biedunkiewicz, Cel Spellman, Mark Bonnar, Ahad Raza Mir and Gregg Sulkin star in the drama.

PBS revealed the following about the upcoming series:

"World on Fire is an adrenaline-pumping, emotionally gripping World War II drama that follows the intertwining fortunes of ordinary people in five countries as they grapple with the effects of war on their daily lives. When the series returns, we'll join our characters set in October 1940, when lone pilots were sent to destroy German bombers as the Northern Blitz set in. The audience is taken from the streets of Britain to occupied France, Nazi Germany and the sands of the North African desert.

The diverse cast includes Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville (The Crown) as Robina, Jonah Hauer-King (Little Women (2017)) as Harry, Julia Brown (Shetland) as Lois, Zofia Wichlacz (1983) as Kasia and Blake Harrison (The Great) as Stan. Mark Bonnar (Shetland) as Sir James Danemere, Ahad Raza Mir (Resident Evil (2022)) as Rajib and Gregg Sulkin (Marvel's Runaways) as David join the cast for season two."

The trailer for World on Fire season two is below. The season will air on BBC on Sunday, July 16, and start on PBS on Sunday, October 15.
