Netflix shares trailer for the second part of season four of You

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the first part of the fourth season of You. Have you not seen the first part yet? Do that first before you read on.

Netflix has shared the You season 4 part 2 trailer, revealing the fallout from the end of the first part and the return of Victoria Pedretti's Love Quinn. The series follows stalker Joe Goldberg as he becomes obsessed with various women, and season two took him to Los Angeles to fall head over heels in love with the privileged heiress of the Love grocery empire. In the end, however, he realized that Love was more than a match for him and that she was willing to rope him into marriage, even killing any new woman who came into his life.

The third season, in which the couple moved with their baby to the fictional suburb of Madre Linda, ended with Joe killing Love and faking his own death in a murder-suicide.

The trailer follows the big Eat the Rich Killer moment from the midseason finale and shows Joe's relationship with Rhys now that his identity is out. While running for mayor, Rhys seems interested in continuing a relationship with Joe, even though he resists doing so. But the biggest twist of all is Pedretti's mysterious return as Love.

It remains to be seen if You season four will show Love somehow surviving her ordeal or is just a ghost in Joe's imagination. You have a history of bringing back Joe's former victims, but there's precedent for both options. The first season heavily hinted that he killed previous victim Candace (Ambyr Childers) before she returned in season two to wreak havoc. However, he also had ghostly visions of his season one victim, Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), so either option could be the answer.

You

Those who would like to know more about Love's fate are unfortunately not helped by the Caroline Kepnes novels, on which the series is based. While the first and second seasons largely followed the course of the books, season three deviated more or less completely from the third book, 2021's You Love Me. Besides Joe stalking a librarian, almost every detail was changed, including Love's ultimate fate. In fact, Love and Joe aren't even together in the novel, with the Quinn family paying for Joe's new identity in exchange for him never going anywhere near their grandson, so she's not on hand for him to kill like he does in the You season three finale.

Although Love and Joe have confrontations throughout the novel, the form of their relationship is very different in the book than on screen. For example, no previous You release has had an encounter like the one in the new trailer. While this means it's going to be exciting to watch and find out what actually happens, there's no way to accurately guess what might happen.
