Good mysterious, exciting and dark series with a fantastic twist at the end. I didn't really know what to expect from this series, but I was positively surprised. As Olga said, it is not really horror, but it is a very intriguing mystery. In the first few episodes we meet the crew of a liner, the Kerberos, on its way to America. On board a number of 1st class passengers who all appear to have something to hide and are not all who they say. And further on "the lower decks" a large number of immigrants on their way to the new country. A number of him also have a large "backpack" to carry. It also becomes clear that a sister ship of this boat disappeared a few months earlier and has not been found. When the captain receives a message with a set of coordinates that he believes is where the missing ship is located, he decides to interrupt the journey to America and look for the ship. This is to the dissatisfaction of many of the passengers, who all have their reasons for wanting to go to America. The Prometheus, the missing boat, is found and turns out to be a ghost ship. Only a mysterious boy is found who doesn't seem to talk and takes a strange pyramid with him. The boy is taken to the Kerberos and then strange things start to happen. Strange passages are found on the ship, people disappear, mutiny threatens and much more. Telling more about that will soon involve spoilers, so go and see for yourself. For me this is a big eight and this series is also a reason for me to check out the German series Dark. I understand that it is from the same makers.

If you haven't seen Dark yet, it is definitely recommended. It is also stoneware.

I agree with TnTNL, you should also see Dark, especially if you like time travel mysteries. Thanks for the extensive review of 1899, I will definitely watch it now.

Definitely wouldn't call it horror. A special mystery. The first two episodes were a bit boring, but the remaining episodes were binge-watched. I thought the series was worth watching.

The makers of Dark are back at it again, Mysterious. This series is a series of WTFs. But again oh so well made and this is partly due to the entire international cast who do not have to speak in their gibberish English but can simply continue to act in their own language, which at times causes very funny but also panicky situations. The Mystery continued to draw me in from episode 1 and became more of a couch potato as the series progressed. Episode 5 in particular made me think it was freaky. The music is also incredibly well chosen and at the end of episode 8 and the images I had goosebumps all over. Netflix also has the making of, if you have finished the series it is definitely recommended. Side note: It is not a series that you can watch at a glance, like most American series and chick flicks.
