Downton Abbey is a British historical drama serie which aired on ITV. The series premiered on 26 September 2010.
The Crawleys have been the Earls of Grantham since 1772. In the drawing rooms and library and beautiful bedrooms, with their tall windows looking across the park, lives the family, but below stairs are other residents, the servants, as fiercely possessive of their ranks as anyone above.
Some of them are loyal to the family and are committed to Downton as a way of life, others are moving through, on the look out for new opportunities or love or just adventure. The difference being that they know so many of the secrets of the family, while the family knows so few of theirs...

American series are really fun / 'even good', that's not the point, but they just can't beat the natural talent as far as British acting is concerned. Dry, subtle - (yet elitist) - Humor, the class difference, Intrigues, love affairs, costumes, in short everything, If you are just starting: - Surrender, Sit down in front of the tube, juice & something to snip within reach , because for the time being you will not be able to leave your house.!

Of all the existing series, Downton Abbey is really my favorite. The story is so well put together, everything historically correct and fantastically and believably played. An absolute must!

Already seen the 1st series on Belgium One. Following the Eurovision Song Contest last week, I thought that the series was only interrupted. It turns out that the first series consists of seven parts.....and you really long for the sequel. In one word.....Stunning! I am so glad that in March this year the shooting for the second series has started. It will take a while but I can hardly wait!
