Good series that tells the Dracula story in a different way. Typical BBC quality. Good actors, good production value. The series got me right with one of the first shots in which a fly appears quite prominently. The only small downside is that I personally think that Claes Bang plays Dracula a bit too frivolous. Sometimes even a bit lackluster with jokes and one-liners. That's not how I see Dracula. But despite that, definitely a series that is worth watching. And very bingable with three episodes of about 1.5 hours.

For the past three days we have been dealing with the BBC series Dracula. Three episodes of an hour and a half. For me it was quite a challenge because I can't stand horror and horror very well. Fortunately, it was not too bad. Despite the many liters of blood and a few scares, I enjoyed watching. The first episode in particular is strong, but the promise that that episode holds for the rest of the series is not fulfilled. The actors play well (Claes Bang as Dracula, Dolly Wells as Sister Agatha, John Hefferman as Jonathan Harker to name three of the extensive cast), the cinematography is convincing and there is the occasional humor. It has the ominous and charged atmosphere you expect from such a series. You can disagree about the story. The series is based on Bram Stoker's book and the makers already announced in advance: the legend gets some fresh blood. For Puritans expecting a literal adaptation of the book, this production will probably be a disappointment, but if you don't mind, it's a great series.

Only seen the 1st episode so far, but so far it's nowhere really scary or thrilling and Dracula looks more like a comedian than a terrifying vampire. I also think that British accent does not suit Dracula. It is also clearly a British series, which I usually find a downside in the horror genre. There are a few funny scenes with a lot of gore, but that's it. The British better just stick to detective series
