Fortitude is een Britse serie van de zender Sky Atlantic. De serie ging in première in 2015.
Fortitude speelt zich af in het rustige stadje Fortitude, ergens op de Noordpool. Het vredige stadje wordt plots wakker geschud door een brutale en schokkende moord. Sheriff Dan Anderssen leidt het onderzoek, maar wordt verplicht samen te werken met DCI Morton, een detective die van het vaste land komt overgevlogen omwille van zijn forensische expertise. Naarmate hun lijst van verdachten toeneemt, groeit ook de onderlinge verdachtmaking onder de bevolking.

It's cold in Fortitude. It's so cold in Fortitude that residents don't wear Canada Goose coats because the rest of the schoolyard has one too, but otherwise they'll freeze to death on the way to the neighborhood supermarket. And let's face it, toilet paper is important, but not important enough to pass your life on. Then just with yesterday's newspaper. However? And then when you close the front door behind you in your GORE-TEX underpants, don't forget to bring your shotgun in case you're standing next to a starving polar bear at the red traffic light. Yep, Fortitude is a remote collection of Arctic homes, making it the ultimate Velcro for adventurers, loners, and other strangers. For a long time it was all peace and quiet there between the immense glaciers, but then someone is found dead in his house. Murdered. By an unknown person. Oeeeeehhhhhhhh. A detective is flown in from England and the hat tunnit can begin. Fortitude has that nice, clamping Nordic Noir atmosphere, which we also know from Danish series such as The Killing, The Bridge and The Legacy. In any case, Sky seems to know where to get the mustard, because earlier in Gomorra the delicious misery already splashed off and in 1992, which is still running now, it has once again been blown away. Contrast that with the stunningly beautiful Arctic scenery against which Fortitude was shot and you're done. Or not? Indeed, do not cheer too soon, because things are dragging a bit. The first episodes are somewhat incoherent and only for the real go-getters a story unfolds that is worthwhile for the viewers. If the viewers are not averse to some strange twists, that is, because you get those in Fortitude. Ooh and doesn't immediately get too excited about Sarah Lund in the trailer. She only plays a small role and looks nothing like the Norwegian sweater, which we fell in love with in The Killing.

Exciting, surreal, oppressive. A dark series that also reminded me of Twin Peaks. I love it!

Top series. A bit dark atmosphere and some strange (read gore to me) scenes. I am curious about the 2nd season .... although I am not yet at the end of the first.

Fantastic series, nice atmosphere, enough pace. Reminds me very far of Twin Peaks. Obviously not that surreal, but such an isolated community, British? Well what is he actually, forensic researcher. I wonder who he gets into bed with!

If you want to see a good Nordic series, it doesn't necessarily have to be the newest. Go back in time about 10 years and with a bit of luck you will still find wonderful series. Maybe this one... and then you should really watch it. What an incredibly cool series this is, I mean the 1st season, because I still have to watch the rest. Good actors, good story and I haven't even mentioned the beautiful film location. I was almost going to pack my bags and look for a cabin there, but I'll wait until I've seen the last 2 seasons, I want to be sure if everything is safe there. So... and now let's move on to the 2nd season and if you haven't figured it out yet, there's no excuse not to watch...

I think there are 12 episodes! This does not alter the fact that it is a special series that turns out to be a winner for me along the way. In part 10 it becomes clear what happened at the beginning of the series. Hints of Breaking Bad and Twin Peaks, strange events that make this series a very special story. I am very curious about series 2
