Series are sometimes just relationships. At the beginning everything is still new, surprising and exciting, but after a while she suddenly no longer laughs at your stupid jokes and the fact that she keeps letting everything fall out of her clutches is no longer cute clumsy, but breeding irritating. While the first chapters were written with almost careless ease, now everything suddenly seems to take an excruciating amount of energy. For example, do you remember how delicious those first six seasons of Dexter were? Yes right? You couldn't wait for Showtime to come through with seasons seven and eight, could you? Well, we knew that. Even Anky van Grunsven had just enough gums to sit through that torture to the bitter end. A fate that gradually seems to be reserved for Penoza. Lots of love for Carmen and comrades, but the script is so crazy in the current season that I can't really take it all seriously anymore. Unfortunately. Actually a bit like back then with Heroes. Five years ago we were presented with a final season by Tim Kring that can be called disappointing to say the least. A disillusionment of a closing track, which only Lost has managed to rave about. The message that NBC was going to revive Heroes was received, at least for me, with a mixed feeling. Was this a comeback à la Doe But to funnel some more money to NBC and Kring's wallet or could it have been possible to revive the magic of the first two seasons? For a long time, EVOs (people with super powers) and people without skills happily hop down the street hand in hand. So you have the power to transform into an 82-year-old Hungarian woman with a weak bladder? Fine dude! What? You can sneeze with your eyes open? Cool! You are 23% bulletproof? Useful. No problem at all, until things go completely wrong at an EVO conference in Odessa, Texas. What was intended as a social gathering between the gifted and bruised without talent, ends in a true bloodbath. Several bombs are going off all over the site and the government is there like the chickens to put the blame on the AFOs. A real manhunt is unleashed and if you happen to be able to talk to nettles, then you better keep it to yourself because it could kill you. Literally. Quentin Frady, whose gifted sister has been missing for a while, has a slightly different theory about the Odessa event and, together with a, to most of us, old acquaintance, he goes all out to uncover the truth. Heroes Reborn. Does the name cover it a bit? Was Heroes indeed reborn or did Kring ruminate for five years on a mash that could have been spared us? I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. If you went well on the first seasons of Heroes, then you will certainly like this one too. Most of all, it is much of the same and that can sometimes be very satisfying. In addition to the necessary new faces, you also get Noah, Hiro and Mohinder on your plate again and now and then reference is made to their adventures from a gray past, without it becoming incomprehensible to new viewers. So nice. However… Heroes was, together with series like 24, The Sopranos and Prison Break, perhaps the first viewing food for which the TV viewer stayed home en masse and if you revive it after five years, it must be good too. At least I think. After all, we watch highlights like Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones and Fargo every week, so the bar has been set a bit higher since 2010 and that is where the shoe pinches for Heroes Reborn. Tim Kring has been able to think about a nail-biting exciting story for five years and computer geeks now have a toolbox full of OMGWTF special effects at hand, but unfortunately you don't really see that. It never really becomes mindblowing and in the back of your mind someone whispers all the time: “I've seen it before. Not new. Nice, but I already know. ”. Too bad, because I think the super hero genre lends itself like no other to completely go wild. If you can't think of it, take it as a challenge to come up with the freakiest shit. This does not alter the fact that Heroes Reborn has satisfied my super power hunger a bit again, because apart from all the Marvel violence it had been a while since I saw someone stop the time and then manually let some bullets off track. change. Before you start here, it is good to watch the Dark Matters videos. Not to be confused with Dark Matter, which is about a number of figures in a spaceship. If you look at it first, you will not understand anything at all. In Dark Matters you get to know Quentin a bit better and you also understand better why he thinks that the fork is slightly different than the government claims. www.gumstarr.com
