Hinterland (Y Gwyll) is een Brits/Welsche detectiveserie van de zender S4/C. De serie ging in première op 29 oktober 2013. Hinterland is de Engelstalige versie, S4/C brengt de serie in de Welshe taal onder de naam Y Gwyll.
Tom Mathias van de DCI heeft zijn leven in Londen verlaten om naar Aberystwyth te gaan. Hij is een briljante maar onrustige man. Ondanks zijn fouten is hij een uitstekende detective die weet dat de sleutel tot het oplossen van de misdaad ligt, niet waarin iedereen op zoek is naar de waarheid maar hoe je het bekijkt.
