Third series was a bit less. The woke feeling in particular is ostentatiously shoved down the throat. With various themes. Furthermore, the final episode was very good with a great twist.

The Morning Show not only provides a glimpse into the underhanded, fake world of television, it is also a statement about #metoo and its consequences. It is about powerful women who are a bit done with it and who put the ax in patriarchy. A really nice series for the average FvD voter. It's about women who are tired of having to live up to the conflicting expectations the world has of them all the time. If they don't dress too sexy, they are too squeamish. If they are not too shy, they are probably considered too outspoken. Once they are not dependent, they are too liberated for many. That work. But it's also about the female establishment - which turned a blind eye here and there for fear of losing its acquired position - versus a new feminist wave that won't let power hungry white men with receding hairline eat their cheese. In that respect, you could perhaps best describe The Morning Show as the ideal mix between The Newsroom, The Loudest Voice and House Of Cards. The similarities with House Of Cards do not come completely out of the blue, since this is one from the sleeve of Jay Carson, previously a political advisor for Netflix's extremely successful political drama. For The Morning Show he was inspired by the book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV by journalist Brian Stelter. A book that focuses on the Today Show and how anchor Meredith Vieira was replaced there in 2011 by Ann Curry. With that, The Morning Show also rubs a bit against reality and that only makes it even juicier! So watch. Won't you regret it. He gets better with the episode. But really.

If this stays the same with Apple tv +, then I will renew my subscription, for sure. After I really enjoyed 'Dickinson', I also really like 'the morning show'. I thought 'See' was bad again, but which network has all good series? None. Even HBO goes wrong. The newsroom (you can indeed compare with that, as gumstarr did below) was perhaps technically and substantively just a bit better and it had Jeff Daniels in the lead !!!, but in that series was quite focused on the news and the political scheming while the focus here is a lot more on the character storylines. So on the human aspect. Which I personally like more, but that's my taste of course. Either way, the actors are good at their roles, the momentum is there and there is always something happening. There are no boring pieces in it. That in itself is an achievement, because after all, it is about a morning show ...
