Vida needed time, time and patience. It's one of the rare series that I didn't like very much at first, but when I gave it a second chance it did taste very good. It's about two sisters, each with their own demons and as different in character as can be. Emma is rational, firm, a bit gruff and lesbian. Lynn is girly, sporty, straight and all feelings. When their mother dies, they return home. There they discover a secret about Vida (their mom), a secret that hits Emma twice as hard as Lynn. Vida leaves her two daughters a building with rental flats and a special cafe at the bottom. Season 1 and 2 revolve around what to do with that building and the cafe; sell or renovate? I loved the atmosphere, the soundtrack, some of the cool characters and the raw, realistic vibe of the series. Even though that vibe is sometimes hard and confrontational. One does not shy away from taboos and when masturbation or sex is practiced, it is open and exposed. Like in real life. So not that silly thing with sheets around the body after the lovemaking (grin). Recommended for fans of drama with a realistic and slightly depressing edge. Not suitable for viewing with young children.

Seasons 1 & 2 now on Hulu! This series had me from the get go when it aired on Starz & then I lost my subscription before season 2 came out. I was thrilled to see it today (Feb 2023) ... they've come a long way! Two sisters who are in denial about how much they have in common with one another and also didn't know how much they had in common with their deceased mother. I love the concept of how the story revolves around fixing up their mothers bar and attached apartments. It gives them time to bond & grieve in their own ways.
