“Weird Loners? Why haven't I heard of this series before? ”. Well, one reason could be that no one is talking about it. Rightly so. Why no one is talking about it? Probably because this poor excuse for a comedy is so terribly funny that it almost becomes embarrassing. More embarrassing than being rolled into ER on a stretcher with a skid mark in your underpants. More embarrassing than Patty Brard on TV, under the watchful eye of the microwave food-eating Netherlands, who crashes off the 12 meter tower in a slightly too small bathing suit. Even more embarrassing than being picked up by your father during your first class night at high school and can't prevent him from busting some wooden dance moves on Nicki Minaj d'r Anaconda in front of all your new friends. So embarrassing. It is best to look away and run away with shame on your jaw and that also applies to Weird Loners. For a moment I thought Fox was going to be my authority on stupid couch chuckles. For example, I have been whinnying on almost every episode of New Girl for a few years now and earlier this year on The Last Man On Earth, a tear of joy rolled down my fleshy cheek with some regularity. With great expectations I sat down for their next hilarious feat, only to return twenty minutes later from an extremely cold fair. There was no Break Dance, my cotton candy was pulled from my hands by a gust of wind before my first bite, at the bumper cars they had Frans Bauer on repeat and there was already at least 25 euros in the closet before I finally with my grab that had managed to fish fake Casio out of the grains with a calculator. Sadness trumps. Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld and That 70's Show have all proven in their own way how funny thunder can be in a group of friends, but Weird Loners misses the point in all areas. It's the evil twin of New Girl in everything. The Cece is less tasty, the Schmidt is only highly annoying and far from cuddly, the Nick is the guy you used to try to lock up in the ballroom at school and I don't want to talk about the lack of a Winston, Jess or Coach. once have. Weird Loners was completely unnecessary and it is not for nothing that Fox pulled the plug after one season. They deserve a modest round of applause for that. Honor where credit is due.
